Design & Build Quality

Out of the box, the mixer arrives well-packaged with clear assembly instructions. It exudes a premium vibe and feels solid and durable at first touch.

Sturdy Construction

The kMix KMX750A is made from high-quality die-cast aluminum, making it durable yet lightweight enough to move around the kitchen easily. The boxy frame of the kMix KMX750A is reminiscent of Kenwood’s original 1950s design, with a few modern upgrades. Overall, the design is both sleek and functional.

Available in several color options, including white, cream, red, black, and pastel blue, the Kenwood kMix brings a retro-modern aesthetic to any kitchen. The clean lines and quality finish make it attractive enough to leave permanently on your countertop.

Powerful 1000W Motor

The core of the stand mixer is its powerful 1000W motor—much stronger than many competitors at its price point. With this 1000W motor, the kMix KMX750A easily handles everything from egg whites to bread doughs, offering great versatility for both tough doughs and delicate meringues. This substantial power allows you to tackle anything from fragile meringues to dense bread doughs without straining or overheating the motor.

6-speed Electronic Control System

One of the kMix KMX750A standout features is its 6-speed electronic control system with a unique fold function. The fold function gives slow, controlled action on delicate mixes for the lightest, fluffiest souffles and mousses. The intelligent speed control builds up gradually, preventing ingredient spillage when adding flour or other dry ingredients.

5.2-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl

The 5.2-quart stainless steel bowl provides ample capacity for family-sized batches. The bowl locks securely into place, ensuring stability during mixing. The inclusion of an ergonomic handle makes transferring your mixtures effortless and mess-free.

Tilt-Head Planetary Mixing

Like many stand mixers on the market, the tilt-head design of the stand mixer features a planetary action rotator, but this feature really came into its own on the kMix KMX750A. The planetary action ensures thorough mixing by rotating the attachment around the bowl while simultaneously spinning, reaching every corner for consistent results. The tilt-head design is convenient, providing easy access to the bowl and simple attachment changes.

Usability

Intuitive Controls and Operation

The stand mixer impresses with its user-friendly design. The kMix KMX750A has a dial on one side, and a paddle at the back to lock and unlock the tilt-head. This means you won’t need to have the machine facing you to use it. The simplicity is refreshing – just one dial for speed control and one lever for the tilt-head mechanism.

There’s no steep learning curve—once you’ve set up the bowl and chosen your attachment, it’s as simple as selecting your speed and letting the mixer do the work. The control layout is intuitive, and even first-time users can quickly understand how to operate it.

Size and Weight Considerations

While the kMix KMX750A is sizable, the mixer’s footprint isn’t as large as you’d think. With a width of just 15.75 inches, it will easily fit at the back of an average worktop when not in use. However, at 20 lbs, it’s definitely a permanent fixture rather than something you’ll move often.

Comprehensive Attachment Set

The stand mixer comes complete with three essential stainless steel attachments:

  • K-Beater: Kenwood’s signature flat beater with the distinctive K-shape design
  • Balloon Whisk: Generously sized for efficient whipping
  • Dough Hook: Specifically designed for bread and pizza dough kneading

These attachments cover most standard mixing needs, from light batters to heavy doughs. Additionally, the unit features a Splash Guard with a feed chute for adding ingredients during mixing, as well as a spatula for easy bowl scraping.

Performance in Real-World Testing

Cake Mixing

The kMix beater hugged the sides of the bowl during the cake test, bringing all the batter together and keeping the sides clean. However, we noticed that a small amount of mixture was at the bottom of the bowl, which hadn’t fully combined with the rest of the ingredients, requiring occasional scraping during mixing. This is quite common in most tilt-head designs, where the attachment positioning doesn’t quite reach the very bottom of the bowl due to variations in the attachments used.

Whipping Performance

The generously-sized balloon whisk took our egg whites to stiff peaks in no time at all. The whisk excels at both small and large quantities, producing consistently impressive results for meringues, whipped cream, and other aerated mixtures.

Bread Kneading

The kMix KMX750A is excellent at kneading bread. That 1000-watt motor really comes into its own when kneading a solid dough. However, we did notice the dough began to wrap itself around the hook, rather than being kneaded, but we managed to rectify this with some increasing and decreasing of the speed.

Cleaning & Maintenance

One of the kMix KMX750A greatest strengths is its ease of cleaning. All removable parts are dishwasher-safe – even the whisk, which on other machines tends to be a handwash-only job. The stainless steel attachments resist staining and maintain their appearance over time.
Because of the tilt-head design, there are no hard-to-reach places where batter can get stuck, and all parts come apart easily for cleaning.

The plastic housing of the mixer can be wiped down with a damp cloth, and because the mixer is well-built, it doesn’t retain much residue or mess after use. Overall, this mixer is low-maintenance, requiring only simple cleaning after each use.

Pros & Cons

Value for Money: Investment-Worthy?

Pricing Position

Currently priced between $530 – 590 depending on color and retailer, the kMix KMX750A sits in the mid-range segment. This positions it as significantly more affordable than premium KitchenAid models while offering comparable or superior motor power.

Competitive Analysis

For nearly half the price, the kMix KMX750A has a larger bowl, a more powerful motor, and doesn’t overheat or fall apart when pushed to its limits – and that’s hard to ignore. Compared to similar-capacity KitchenAid models, the KMIX offers:

  • 25% more motor power (1000W vs 800W typical)
  • Larger bowl capacity
  • More affordable pricing
  • Comparable build quality

Long-term Value

The kMix KMX750A comes with Kenwood’s reputation for durability and a comprehensive warranty. We have been using it for 4-5 months, and we love it; many users report years of reliable service. The sturdy construction indicates that this mixer will provide decades of baking assistance.

Who Should Buy The KMX750A

The kMix KMX750A is ideal for:

  • Frequent bakers who need reliable, powerful performance
  • Families requiring larger batch capabilities
  • Value-conscious buyers wanting premium features at mid-range prices
  • Design enthusiasts who appreciate retro-modern aesthetics

The MX750A might not suit

  • Those wanting extensive attachments – KitchenAid offers more specialized accessories
  • Users with limited counter space who need maximum portability

The Bottom Line

For those who have been let down by mixers in the past – models that struggle and strain, are a chore to clean, or don’t produce the results you were expecting – then Kenwood’s kMix KMX750A will be a breath of fresh air.

The Kenwood KMIX represents excellent value in the stand mixer market, offering premium performance at a mid-range price. While it may not have the brand recognition of KitchenAid or the extensive attachment ecosystem, it more than compensates with superior motor power, generous capacity, and it’s built to handle whatever your culinary imagination can create.

The Kenwood’s kMix KMX750A stand mixer receives an overall rating of 4.53 out of 5 stars and is a compelling choice that proves you don’t need to pay premium prices for professional-quality results.

The main differences between the Kenwood kMix Standard (KMX750A) and kMix Special Edition / Limited Edition (KMX760A) stand mixers lie in their design, materials, warranty, and minor functional enhancements, while core performance specifications remain identical.

The Special Edition allows attachments to be manually adjusted to sit closer to the bottom of the bowl. This addresses a common critique of the standard model, where ingredients could accumulate unprocessed at the base.

The kMix Standard (KMX750A) is designed for practical users who prioritize value and ease of maintenance, while the kMix Special Edition (KMX760A) is targeted at design-focused bakers willing to pay extra for premium aesthetics, adjustable attachments, and an extended warranty.

Choose the Standard if you want reliable performance at a lower cost and prefer low-maintenance materials. Select the Special Edition if you want the adjustable attachment feature for more efficient mixing and a longer warranty for peace of mind.
